Vu Nguyen English Composition I Mr. Dylan Travis RELATIONSHIPS IN GOOD WILL HUNTING Good Will Hunting is an interesting story of a young genius orphan growing in a slums of South Boston with a group of best friends, written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and directed by Gus Van Sant. In this film, Will Hunting is the main character played by its father Matt Damon who is trying to himself identify his value in the world. He is not a normal teenager, he has a special ability that called the â€Å"photographic memory† so that he could remember and solve academic problems in a really quickly way. This film also tells us the journey of Willy as he is required to experience psychotherapy by Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard) unless he wants†¦show more content†¦That is the reason why Dr. Lambeu searched through nearly different six psychologists to help him but all failed. Afterwards, he decides to ask his former college roommate, that is Sean, now a professor of psychology in a community college. At first, the psychotherapy sessions do not succeed, however, they end up being stubborn to each other that goes on for quite some time, waiting for the clock points the last second of each sessions. Gradually, Will gives in, the two starts having some conversations. It seems that Sean’s patience is a good strategy to open Will up. Sean is trying to make concessions until they get to discuss an artwork drawn by numbers that Sean’s wife had done. Will finds out the sadness from the paintings and keeps blaming that Sean couldn’t get over from his wife’s death instead of sharing the sorrow with Sean. Suddenly, Sean attacks Will physically but he might still be able to keep his temper, whereas, the other psychologists would probably get mad and refuse to no longer cure him. This detail motivates Will to respect Sean more and truly shorten the distance between the two men. Since then, the relationship between patient-doctor begins to grow, but not fast, however , this also demonstrates that Sean’s therapy treatment is working well.
